The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has opened a recruitment drive for 170 positions spanning senior leadership, administrative, and field roles across the country.

The announcement, made on Tuesday, includes openings for 132 Assistant Director Teacher Management roles, alongside senior director and principal officer positions.

The commission is inviting qualified and motivated Kenyans to apply for the positions through its official website, with the deadline set for March 23, 2026.

In its public notice, TSC called for “qualified, result-oriented and highly motivated Kenyans to apply for the various positions,” which cover leadership, management, and field-based responsibilities.

Established under Article 237 of the Constitution of Kenya, the Teachers Service Commission is the body charged with managing the nation’s teaching workforce.

Its mandate includes recruiting, deploying, and disciplining teachers in public schools, ensuring professional standards are maintained.

The current recruitment spans ten different categories of positions. Among the most senior roles are two Senior Deputy Director positions. These include Senior Deputy Director for Human Resource Management and Development and Senior Deputy Director for Internal Audit, each with one vacancy under TSC Grade 4.

Several Deputy Director roles under Grade 5 are also up for grabs. These include two vacancies for Deputy Director of Human Resource Management, and one position each for Deputy Director of Human Resource Development, Deputy Director of Internal Audit in Information Systems, and Deputy Director of Risk Management.

Field-based teacher administration roles make up the largest portion of the recruitment, with 132 Assistant Director Teacher Management positions under TSC Grade 6. These roles are intended to improve operational oversight and strengthen management of teachers in various regions.

The commission has also advertised openings for Principal Officer positions. These include 20 vacancies for Principal Officer Teacher Professional Management, eight for Principal Officer Staffing, and three for Principal Officer Teacher Discipline Management. Combined, the total number of available positions reaches 170.

Detailed job descriptions and requirements for all roles are accessible on TSC’s website. Applicants are required to submit their applications online via the commission’s digital recruitment portal. The deadline for submissions is March 23, 2026, at 2359 hours East African Time.

TSC reiterated its commitment to fair and inclusive employment practices. The commission said it seeks to ensure equal opportunities for men and women, members of all ethnic communities, persons living with disabilities, as well as candidates from marginalized and minority groups.

The commission also cautioned applicants against providing falsified documents or inaccurate information, noting that “presenting fake certificates or misleading information in an application constitutes a criminal offence.” It stressed that no application, processing, or interview fees are required, and only successful candidates will be contacted during the selection process.

This recruitment drive is part of TSC’s efforts to strengthen administrative and operational structures responsible for teacher management across the country. The addition of field-based management positions is expected to enhance coordination between TSC’s headquarters and regional offices supervising teachers.

By expanding staffing across leadership, administrative, and field levels, TSC aims to improve efficiency in teacher management, uphold professional standards, and support ongoing reforms in professional development and disciplinary procedures. Applications will remain open until the March deadline, after which the commission will review submissions and commence the selection process.

Successful candidates will join TSC in roles that contribute to its mandate of managing the teaching profession and ensuring effective service delivery in Kenya’s public schools.
